Adele - Skyfall

This is the end,
Hold your breath and count to ten,
Feel the earth move and then,
Hear my heart burst again,
For this is the end,
I've drowned and dreamt this moment,
So overdue I owe them,
Swept away I'm stolen,
[Chorus]
Let the skyfall
When it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together,
Let the skyfall
When it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together,
At skyfall
At skyfall
Skyfall is where we start,
A thousand miles and poles apart,
Where worlds collide and days are dark,
You may have my number, you can take my name,
But you'll never have my heart

[Chorus]
Let the skyfall (Let the skyfall)
When it crumbles (When it crumbles)
We will stand tall (We will stand tall)
Face it all together
At skyfall.
[x2]
(Let the skyfall
When it crumbles
We will stand tall)
Where you go I go,
What you see I see
I know I'd never be me
Without the security,
Of your loving arms,
Keeping me from harm,
Put your hand in my hand,
And we'll stand.
[Chorus]
Let the skyfall (Let the skyfall)
When it crumbles (When it crumbles)
We will stand tall (We will stand tall)
Face it all together
Let the skyfall (Let the skyfall)
When it crumbles (When it crumbles)
We will stand tall (We will stand tall)
Face it all together
At skyfall.
Let the skyfall
We will stand tall,
At skyfall,
Oooooh

This song has an exclusive feel to it. It is so passionately sung by adele in this E♭ key. I appreciate Adele's craft in harmonies and melodies where she paints emotions so vividly.

INTERPRETATION: I believe this song can be interpreted in different ways, as with any other song. However, dominantly, I believe this song has to do with a weak relationship that is about to be torn apart ("hear my heart burst again"). It is inevitable, but still causes some sort of anxiety. The lyrics in this song are very repetitive, but it sets the boundary of the relationship. The relationship has always been like this, almost repetitive, stuck, moving nowhere. She expresses how she will be strong, "stand tall." Despite the song being sung in a plural point of view, it can be interpreted that these other individuals may be her ego, superego, and id. This is a psychological aspect of the lines, where one says she should stay, but her superego says that they should let it go, "face it all together." Of course, this can also be interpreted in a societal point of view. Where certain things fall apart. How hopes and dreams are shattered in different ways because of certain events.
